Condolences - Jim Gordon
Posted:
17 September 2024
It is with great sadness that we learnt of the death of one of our Vice Presidents James (Jim) Gordon on Monday 16th September 2024, a member of our Club since 1982.
Prior to his election as a VP, Jim served as Hon. Treasurer from 1984-1995 and Chairman from 1996-1997. He had also been a member of St. George's Hill LTC since 1969 and served on their Board for many years, representing them in inter-club competitions and Surrey seniors in inter-county events. In business, Jim was a Scottish Chartered Accountant who was involved with two engineering companies as well as Lloyds Insurance.
Jim was a lovely man in every way and would have been 90 on 28th November. His presence and learned input will be greatly missed at committee meetings.
Our sincere condolences go to Jim's wife Heather, his family and friends at this difficult time.

With tennis matches now coming thick and fast our teams have hit the court running at the start of August. We've already registered two wins out of three vs The Wimbledon Club (mixed) and The Roehampton Club (men's) with a drawn match against West Worthing (mixed). Our ladies match against Warwick BC was cancelled due to court resurfacing. Well done to all players involved - keep the adrenaline flowing and the Ibuprofen at hand!

Mixed Team lose at Hurlingham Club
Posted:
28 July 2024
No better venue on a hot summer day to play grass court tennis. Although the result didn't go our way in this mixed encounter, losing 1 1/2 - 7 1/2, everyone agreed it was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon of tennis. Thank you to The Hurlingham Club for their generous hospitality.
